Hey I'm Alison. I own a web design business that started as a print design business with a little side of web. Well 20 years later and I'm mostly web design and specializing in the Joomla CMS. (Solo with a side of contractors as required.) I was pushing good UX/UI before those terms were popular and probably because of the way I think. If a website or document is hard to navigate then what is the point. I specialize primarily in small to medium sized business but have done several nonprofits and currently manage a website for a classic car show that has to date raised over a million dollars for childhood cancer charities.
I started my home business out of necessity with a side of opportunity. I was investigating a self employment program as my knees were bad and travelling into Toronto where the big firms were wasn't practical. Just around then I lost both my folks close together. That was deep into traumatic life experiences.
More recently with all the info campaigns on social I've been reading the various neuro-divergent posts and checking the boxes. The big ah ha moment! Those big ah ha moments are also helping me with finding strategies that help and giving myself some grace when they don't.
